A Meeting of Ethereal Spirits

The full moon looked down on the ocean, fingers of its light seeping into the dark depths. With its light plankton rose to the surface, and with it the predators. Squid darted like silver streaks and the sillhouettes and echoes of the calls of dolphins could be heard and seen in the shadows. Creatures appeared than dissapeared, like wraiths from the eternal black shadows. This was a different world, a world where any creature could appear. The movement of shadows stilled suddenly and a silent stillness crept through the water. A lingering fish transfixed by the moonlight did not see the sleek smooth silver streak that darted up to it till it was too late. The fish was gone, in a single instant and where it was a strange creature slowly undulated. Fan like fins had stood up from its body, transforing the sleek predator into a beautiful spectre. The slow movement of its fins seemed but a trick of the light and the light reflecting off its body made it look otherworldy. Dragon, that was the only word that could describe this magnificent, mysterious creature. It looked at the light, seemingly caught in the movement of the reflections. Something stirred in the water. Like a peice of black silk gliding through the water came the mata ray, unafraid of this other strange creature. The dragon looked at it, that gaze held the secrets of the world. It was not the gaze of a hungry predator, it was the gaze of a thinker, a contemplater, the dragon was studying the ray. In a strange dance of aquatic spirits the manta started to circle the dragon and the dragon the manta. There was no doubting this occurence, the dragon was friends with the ray.

Was watching a doco the other night about swordfish, marlin and other billfish and there was some stunning underwater night footage so i was inspired to make this. The story i thought up as i drew the picture which seems to happen often XD. I dont really like how the water turned out but the ray and the sea dragon are alright, besides, it helped me destress ^^ hope you enjoy oh yer, i made this a few days ago but my comp had a huge hissy fit and i couldnt access DA or my email or my usb or my computer settings and a bunch of other stuff, hence my quietness XD
